St. Mary’s Parish Church launches a programne for a New Parish Choir-for September 2012-13

Clogheen has a long established reputation for having wonderful people that have enjoyed and contributed their talents down through the years to their local Church and Choir.

Now the time has come to reach out for New Members to add to those who wish to continue and give of their singing gifts. Men and Women Wanted. The music ministry can contribute immensely to our parish liturgies. The need is also there for a Choir Leader-Director. So if you have the gift to offer this parish of coming on board as its Choir Leader-Director, or a new member – please make contact naomhcataldo@gmail.com

Is there anyone with an interest in helping establish a Folk Choir and a Children’s Choir for a once a month Liturgy for a weekend Mass ?
The parish acknowledges the many years of commitment from our Organist, John Tuohy.

An opportunity to help your neighbour during these recessionary
times.

A container to accept donations of non-perishable food items is
now in the church porch of St. Mary’s, Clogheen.

This is an opportunity to share any excess food items you may have
in your home as a gesture of goodwill to your neighbours.

While we make every effort to help those in far away places, no
one should be hungry at home.

Thank you so much for supporting this pastoral out reach in our
place.

Parish Reminders List:

All Baptisms are celebrated on Saturdays with a notice of One Month, to allow for house visitation and introduction to the sacrament by baptisimal team.
Godparents should be practising Catholics and a Christian Saints Name is encouraged for the new born child. Permission is necessary for baptism to be celebrated elsewhere… another parish. Last hour on a Saturday for Baptism is 3pm.

Funerals should be arranged in consultation with the Parish Priest and before notification to the papers.
Funeral Masses are normally celebrated at 11am. All eulogies (if any) are to be shared before the requiem mass and gifts that represent the deceased are to be done on the evening of the reception of the remains and will remain on the gift table for the Requiem Mass. The only gifts offered at the requiem mass are the bread & wine.

Marriages: A minimum of 3 month’s notice is the law of the land and the church. This also applies for ‘away’ weddings. Plan well in advance to secure your preferred date for your church wedding.
The Catholic Church has always had two options available on how best to celebrate your Catholic Wedding: Option A …within the Holy Mass
Option B… a service of the Sacrament without the full Mass, to be considered by those who are not practising catholics. See more details in the Births / Marriages / Obituaries Pages

FORGIVENESS: We were teaching a forgiveness workshop when John, one of the participants, told us that his brother had continually abused and even molested him as a child. He said quite emphatically that he would never forgive him. After John had spoken, there were a few minutes of shocked silence, another participant gently said, “If you can’t forgive, then you can’t dance, you can’t sing, and you can’t smile.”
Those few words exactly describe the emotional blocking that takes place when there is no forgiveness. Our ability to dance—to move emotionally, to give, to love, to feel alive and free—gets stuck. All the pain, grief, and hurt get held in this immovable place. We cannot move forward when a part of us is locked in the past.

All around us is the evidence of a lack of forgiveness: broken families, self-hate, guilt and shame leading to depression, huge amounts of anger, bitterness, and closed-heartedness. We learn to live by ignoring this dark place without realizing how deeply limiting it is, how it holds back our joy and laughter. We point the finger and see the other person as the cause of the suffering but we do not see how, by holding onto hurt feelings, we are simply creating more grief for ourselves.

To forgive includes fully acknowledging our feelings: how angry, upset, betrayed, bitter, or indignant we are; how unfair life is; how let down and sad we feel, and that it is absolutely okay to be this way. We know and feel the pain, but the desire to no longer continue the suffering is stronger; we care enough about ourselves to not want to carry the anger or sadness any longer.
